TODDLER DAYCARE PROGRAM

18 MONTHS TO 35 Months

Our daily routine and lesson plans are constructed with each child’s development and comfort level in mind. Big Adventures Learning Center staff will work at each toddlers individual pace to ensure progress and productivity. There will be instruction, activities, and play sessions geared for both group participation and independent learning.

As children adapt and become comfortable with their environment, they endure greater independence and higher level learning. While our staff monitors development and introduces new activities, we do so with a strong affection and constant reminder that parents entrust us to act with kindness, comfort, and positive reinforcement.

ACTIVITIES AND LEARNING

The daily schedule consists of naptime, feeding, fine arts, physical activity, and educational lessons with books, puzzles, and age-appropriate toys. We encourage social interaction at our Circle Time as we learn to play, sing, and participate with one another.

Toddlers will begin working with the alphabet, numbers, and other important age appropriate skills. As a group, we will partake in activities that influence social cooperation, cognitive learning, emotional and physical behavior. Individual lessons will also help children learn and play on their own. Potty training assistance is also provided for our older toddlers.

FOOD FOR TODDLERS

Meals will be prepared and provided by the child's parent. Big Adventures Learning Center will provide daily snacks and a pizza lunch every Friday. Each child will be encouraged to eat what is prepared and to try new items as introduced. Please alert our staff of any food allergies or food restrictions as we want to accommodate and respect individual preferences.

DIAPERS

Please provide diapers, wipes and diaper ointment (if needed) for your toddler. All items must be labeled with the child’s first and last name. BALC request you bring a package of diapers to leave at the center. You will be notified when your child is running low on diapers. If you have any questions, please check with the office.

TOILET TRAINING

Toilet training is best accomplished with the cooperation of teachers, parents and children. Children learn toileting skills through consistent positive encouragement from adults and home and at the center. Toilet Training usually begins around 2 years of age. When a child shows an interest in toilet training, the parents and teachers should complete a Potty Training Contract that describes how they will cooperate to encourage toilet training. This form is available from our director. This plan is a commitment to work with the child in a consistent manner; it is not a timeline for completing toilet training. This contract will be kept on file.

Each child will begin at a different time and progress at a different rate. The staff will provide documentation of your child’s progress each day. The director and staff are available as a resource to answer any questions about your child’s toilet training progress at BALC. Several complete changes of clothes should be kept on-center during this process.

QUIET TIME/NAPS

We believe that children need a balance of activities that include large motor and active play as well as structured quiet time. Our program includes a quiet time for all children Kindergarten and younger. All children from 1 year of age through pre-K will receive a quiet time each day for a specified length of time. This will be established by their flexible schedule posted in that respective classroom.
